Over the last few years, our little group of private pilots has received many emails asking about flying in our unique and challenging region. This site tries to bring together some of the basics for those thinking about flying to Baffin Island. Comments and suggestions are welcome! Check out the What's New link on the top menu for the latest.
We've been flying our 1971 Cessna 172 C-GOLJ here in Iqaluit, Nunavut, Canada since 1993. That doesn't make us northern flying experts, but it does mean that we can help you make your trip by private plane to this part of the world a little easier. We've had lots of visitors over the years, some of whom you'll meet on these pages.
The site is usually updated every couple of weeks, so refresh your browser to get the latest pages. For the most part, images and pages will open in current window, so use the back button to navigate. Clicking "Read More" will expand the story to show you all of the information. You'll find airport information, along with tourism and accommodation for a number of Baffin Island communities. This isn't a tutorial on arctic flying, but we hope you find the information useful. Data is provided for information purposes ONLY, and should not be used for flight planning. Inclusion on these pages DOES NOT mean we endorse or recommend any of these products, services, or companies. We'd love to hear from you about your arctic flying adventure! Contact us!
