On Baffin Island, the regional airlines and charter operators are based in Iqaluit.  First Air and Canadian North are the main scheduled carriers in the Baffin Region of Nunavut.  Kivalliq Air and Calm Air serve the Kivalliq region, from a main hub in Rankin Inlet. And First Air and Canadian North serve Nunavut's Kitikmeot Region.  Air Canada Jazz has recently begun daily service between Iqaluit and Ottawa/Montreal.  Air Inuit provide service in the Nunavik region of Northern Quebec.

First Air Logo

  First Air offers daily scheduled Boeing 727 and 737 service between Iqaluit and Ottawa, Montreal, Rankin Inlet, Winnipeg and Yellowknife, with connections to Air Canada and other national and international carriers in Ottawa, Montreal, Yellowknife, Winnipeg and Edmonton. They also provide daily scheduled ATR-42 service on Baffin Island, and locations in the Kikitmeot Region of Nunavut.

First Air is one of the main air freight operators in Northern Canada.

It is owned by the Inuit of Nunavik (northern Quebec) through the Makivik Corporation. They also own the Nunavik airline Air Inuit. First Air has a long history of arctic aviation.  First Air's airline designator is 7F.

 Canadian North offers daily scheduled Boeing 737 service between Iqaluit and Ottawa,  and Iqaluit and Yellowknife, Calgary and Edmonton with connections to Air Canada and other national and international carriers in Ottawa, Yellowknife and Calgary/Edmonton. They also provide daily scheduled DASH-8 service to most Baffin Island communities, and other locations in the Kitikmeot region of Nunavut.

Canadian North is one of the main air freight operators in Northern Canada.

It is owned by the Inuit of Nunavut and the Inuvialuit of the Northwest Territories through NorTerra Inc.  Canadian North's airline designator is 5T.

 

Jazz Air Air Canada Jazz began flying between Iqaluit and Ottawa/Montreal at the end of March 2010. They use the Bombardier CRJ-705 jet on the Iqaluit run.

Connections are available to the rest of the Air Canada system, though one can also connect to the Air Canada system via the northern carriers First Air and Canadian North. Jazz does not fly to any other Nunavut communities. You can check Jazz arrival and departure times here.

 In addtion to charter and medevac services in Arctic Canada, and around the world, Kenn Borek Air provides scheduled service to some smaller communities in the Baffin Region of Nunavut, including Canada's most northern community, Grise Fiord.  Kenn Borek Air services the region with Beech King Air, Twin Otter and DC3 aircraft. 

 

 

Calma Air logo

 Calm Air serves a number of communities in the Kivalliq Region of Nunavut, including Rankin Inlet, Arviat, and Baker Lake.  It also provides service to a number of northern Manitoba communities, and the city of Winnipeg. Their fleet includes SAAB 340B, HS-748; ATR-42 and Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft.

In addition to passenger service, Calm Air provides cargo service in the Kivalliq Region.

 Kivalliq Air, also known as Keewatin Air is the other regional carrier providing service in the Kivalliq Region of Nunavut. In addition to scheduled service, they also provide some cargo and air ambulance services.

 

 

 

Air InuitAir Inuit is the regional airline serving the Nunavik region of Northern Quebec. Like First Air, it is also owned by the Inuit of Nunavik, through the Makivik Corporation.

Air Inuit does not make direct connections between the south and Nunavut, but is the only airline serving the Nunavik region of Northern Quebec.
